Rhetorical Methods in the Prophetic Congratulations Mentioned in the Book (Wasoul al-Amani Ba’soul al-Tahani) by Imam al-Suyuti

Abstract

Hadiths of the Prophet were almost mentioned in eloquent graphic style. Due to the importance of the hadiths of congratulations received from the Prophet Mohammed in strengthening the bonds between the Muslim community. Hence, this topic has become a strong incentive for the researcher to study it. The study was conducted from a rhetorical point of view where rhetorical subtleties, linguistic secrets, wisdom, preciseness and good speech have been extracted. This study attempted to answer the question: What are the gentle and rhetorical meanings that the Prophet uniquely used in his congratulatory conversations? The study has concluded with important results: (1) congratulation is one of the Islamic etiquette which strengthens the bonds of the Muslim community, (2) the impact of the Prophet’s hadith on Arabic rhetoric is its memorization and the frequent citations of rhetoricians, and (3) the prophetic congratulations used the predicate verb (past) for the purpose of optimism and keenness.
