Abstract

The current study aims to identify the relationship between knowledge of teaching skills and attitudes towards teaching career among student-teachers in the Program of teacher of social Studies field at the College of Education, Seiyun University. The researcher uses the descriptive approach, and the study sample consists of 40 male and female students selected from 60 male and female students of the fourth level which constitutes the study population. The test of knowledge of teaching skills and the scale of attitudes towards a career are applied on the sample after checking the validity and reliability of the two instruments.

 The study concludes that the study sample possesses the acceptable knowledge level of teaching skills and their attitudes towards the teaching career. The results of the study also indicate that there is a statistically positive relationship between the sample’s knowledge of teaching skills and their attitudes towards the teaching career. Furthermore, there are statistically significant differences depending on gender for female students in terms of knowledge of teaching skills, but there are no statistically significant differences attributed to gender in terms of their attitudes towards teaching career.
